Feminine rejuvenation, also known as vaginal tightening, is a modern gynaecological treatment that does not require anaesthesia. It is a painless treatment, it is performed within 25-30 minutes, and it positively affects long-lasting vaginal dryness and urinary incontinence problems.
Feminine rejuvenation treatment is generally applied for a few reasons:
•Vulvar whitening
•Urinary incontinence; stress incontinence.
•Vaginal dryness that usually comes with menopause
What are the causes of looseness in the vaginal region?
Intra-vaginal connective tissue weakens with age. Therefore, with advancing age, the vagina becomes more abundant and enlarged. Weakness of connective tissue can also occur due to giving birth, genetic predisposition and gynaecological interventions such as abortion. In some young women, even if they have not given birth, loosening can be seen depending on the structure of the tissues. The other name of this condition is vaginal relaxation syndrome.

What kind of problems does loosening of the vaginal region cause?
Relaxation can cause sudden urinary incontinence from time to time, especially when coughing or laughing, as well as deterioration in sexual functions and dissatisfaction in sexual life in both partners. Urinary incontinence and frequent infections may also occur due to the urinary tract opening to the genital area.
The things that do NOT cause looseness in the vaginal region
There are a lot of misconceptions and myths when it comes to the vagina. There are people who believe that frequent sex will cause the vagina to loosen. That is not actually true. The vagina is elastic. It can stretch accordingly to accommodate things that are coming in and going out. Even though it can stretch, it does not mean that it will stay that way forever. It will not take long for the vagina to return to its previous shape. As women age or give birth, the vagina may become looser, but in the end, the muscles that expanded will retract and they will try to return the vagina back to its original shape.
However, these muscles can weaken over time. Having more than one vaginal birth is going to affect these muscles and significantly weaken them. Age also plays a factor in the looseness of the vaginal. As humans age, naturally, our muscles become weaker. The same goes for the muscles in the vaginal region. The muscles that are responsible for the tightness of the vagina can weaken with age, regardless of whether there was a vaginal birth.
What role does age play?
Women begin to see these changes that come with age around their 40s. As women enter the perimenopausal stage, which is the natural transition period to menopause, estrogen levels will start to drop. Vaginal tissue goes through a few changes during this stage. It will become thinner, less acidic, drier, less flexible and less stretchy. When women reach full menopause, these changes can become more noticeable.
How does childbirth cause the vagina to loosen?
The vagina naturally goes through some changes during and after a vaginal delivery. The vaginal muscles need to stretch to let the baby pass through the birth canal. After the baby goes through the birth canal, unless it is a C-section, it needs to come out of the vagina using its entrance. After giving birth, for a few days the vagina might feel loose. This is normal as a baby just passed through there. The vagina should start to tighten and feel less loose in a few days. But some of the muscles may expand too much during some childbirths. Especially if it is not the first birth. This is why the vagina may not take its original shape back after birth.
Do vaginal tightening exercises work?
You might have heard of vaginal tightening exercises that aim to strengthen the vaginal muscles. These exercises are known as pelvic exercises and they focus on the pelvic floor muscles to increase the tightness of the vagina to stop any problems such as accidentally leaking urine, feeling the constant need to pee, experiencing pain around the pelvic area especially during sex. These exercises might help with the treatment of mild urinary incontinence but they are not as helpful for women who suffer from severe urinary incontinence. Here are some exercises and how you can try them:
- Pelvic tilt exercises
Stand up straight and push your butt and shoulders against a wall. You should keep your knees short during this exercise. Then flatten your back against the wall by pulling your belly inwards, towards your spine. For 4 seconds, tighten your belly button and release. Repeat this 10 times and you are done. This exercise can be done up to 5 times a day.
- Kegel exercises
To do this exercise correctly, you need to identify your pelvic floor muscles. If you are able to stop midstream while you are urinating, you know what muscles to focus on during this exercise. First, you should lie on your back. You can pick another position but this is how most people prefer doing the Kegel exercise. Focus on the pelvic floor muscles that you have identified before and hold the contraction for 5 seconds. Then relax for 5 seconds and repeat the whole process 5 times without taking a break except for the 5-second relaxation in between the contractions. While doing this exercise you should only focus on your pelvic floor muscles. Be careful not to tighten your abs, butt or thighs during Kegel exercise. After you build up strength, you can increase the time to 10 seconds. Do this 3 sets of this 5 to 10 times a day.
- Vaginal cones
You are going to need a vaginal cone to do this exercise. A vaginal cone is a tampon sized object that you put in the vagina and hold. It is weighted and you can increase the weight as the muscles inside gets stronger. To do this exercise simply insert the cone into your vagina and squeeze your muscles. Twice a day, hold it in there for about 15 minutes.
While these exercises do work, they usually only focus on the internal side of the problems. Tightening the muscles in the vagina is important but many women who suffer from looseness in their vaginal region, also worry about how it looks.
Why should you get vagina tightening treatment if these exercises work?
Vagina tightening does not only tighten the skin and the muscles. It stimulates new collagen production, increasing the elasticity and prevent the vagina from having a saggy look. It enhances the blood flow to the area and increases lubrication. It is a completely safe and painless treatment. It is very effective in treating urinary and stress incontinence. It is non-invasive and can be done in a very short time. In short, it is the whole package and is able to provide complete rejuvenation.

The Process of Vaginal Tightening
The application of a water-based gel to the skin of the labia area is the first step. After that, a handpiece that gives out certain radio frequencies is moved across the area. A small and disposable probe is then inserted into the vaginal canal. The tip of the probe is moved along the length of the vaginal canal. As the probe heats the areas inside the vaginal canal, the connective tissue in the vagina is activated. The restructuring of collagen and the production of new collagen in the tissue called the vaginal mucosa and endopelvic fascia are stimulated.
With the thermal effect, elastin fibres, which are responsible for collagen and elasticity, are contracted and reshaped. New collagen formation also takes place and as a result, the vaginal canal becomes noticeably narrower and tighter. In addition, blood circulation in this area increases and natural vaginal wetting increases. An increase in collagen production continues after the process is over. In other words, after the application, the tightening continues for a certain time by itself.
Please be aware that this treatment can be provided only after a medical expert is consulted. Medical and allergy history is also required. The treatment is completed in the course of 3 sessions.
Is vaginal tightening treatment safe?
It is a completely safe treatment that does not require anaesthesia. The water-based gel is applied to relax the muscles so there will be no pain or irritation. Only a relaxing and warming sensation is felt during the process. Patients can return to their daily lives right after they get the treatment.
In conclusion, not everything in the world is about looks but when we talk about the vaginal region, some women might be uncomfortable about the way their vagina looks. Vaginal tightening is not a thing women do only for their partners. It is not just for cosmetic reasons. It helps with urinary incontinence which is a serious disease a lot of women suffer from. That can lead to discomfort and embarrassment. By getting this treatment, women who suffer from this will be able to continue their lives normally without worrying about it. It is not something to be ashamed of neither it is something women should be embarrassed about. It is also about feeling confident, boosting self-esteem and most importantly, it is about empowerment.
